FPPC-BPPC
The Bauang Private Power Corporation, a subsidiary of FPPC, operates the 225 mw diesel power plant in Bauang, La Union.
First Private Power Corporation established BPPC as a subsidiary to undertake a number of power generating projects and particularly for the purpose of constructing and operating this power plant. In January 1994, the Philippine-American Life Insurance Company (Philam) infused capital into BPPC's equity thus resulting to a 93% shareholding of FPPC and 7% of Philam.

TECHNICAL DESCRIPTION
The plant with an initial contracted capacity of 215 MW which was later increased to 225 MW in January 1997 generates power using twenty-one (21) diesel engines operating synchronously. The diesel engines were manufactured and supplied by New Sulzer Diesel of France. Each unit burns Bunker "C" fuel, operates at an engine speed of 514 RPM and generates a gross output of 11.5 MW.

The engines are housed in three (3) separate buildings with seven (7) engines each. Each building has an area of approximately 2,500 square meters.
Major facilities in the plant include a substation, two 100,000-bbl steel fuel storage tanks, sludge treatment plant, and five auxiliary buildings (maintenance, warehouse, guest house, bunk house, canteen).
Operations were enhanced with the replacement of the 11 Hitachi blocks, the operationalization of the fuel oil / lube oil sludge treatment plant, the implementation of the Solid Waste Disposal System, further investments in computerization and staff systems, and attaining an ISO 9002 certification.
