First Gas Pipelines

OVERVIEW

FGPL, a wholly owned subsidiary of First Gas Holdings Corporation, was incorporated to explore the construction and operation of an on-shore gas pipeline from the Onshore Gas Treatment Facilities of Shell Exploration BV in Tabangao, Batangas to the power generation facilities of FGPC and FGP Corp. in Sta. Rita, Batangas.

(see project structure)

Approximately 8 kilometers of 24-inch diameter steel pipeline will be used for the project. The gas pipeline will comply with the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) standard of B31.8 for "Gas Transmission and Distribution Piping Systems", the standard used for more than 80% of gas pipelines around the world.

Right-of-Way (ROW)

FGPL began acquiring the right-of-way (ROW) easements needed for the pipeline project as early as the 2nd half of 1998. ROW acquisition is practically complete with negotiations for the last set of landowners in its final stages. FGPL has already obtained an Environmental Compliance Certificate from the Department of Environment and Natural Resources and an "Authority to build, own, and operate" a natural gas pipeline from Tabangao to Sta. Rita from the Department Of Energy.

The project will obtain financing together with FGP Corp. Construction began in the 2nd half of 1999, and will be completed within six months.

Pipeline Completion Schedule

The completion of the pipeline will be way ahead of the Malampaya Gas’ availability, which is forecast to be on stream by 2002.
