HUMAN RESOURCE

First Holdings proceeded with its human resource development program, focusing on managerial development. .

The firm likewise took the lead in establishing a comprehensive corporate wellness program encompassing the body, mind and spirit of the person. The company intends to institutionalize a succession planning from top management and down the decision-making structure.

Lopez Center

Aware of the critical role of human resources, the top management of First Holdings and the other companies in the Lopez Group established the Eugenio Lopez Center in Antipolo. The objectives of the Center are to upgrade the quality of management and to foster a sense of unity, understanding and synergy among the different managers and entities within the Lopez Group.

CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY

The First Holdings Group, together with Meralco and the other Lopez companies, donated P24 million for the renovation of the National Museum of the Filipino People (formerly the Finance Building at the Agrifina Circle). The North Gallery on the third floor, which will hold the Story of the Filipino People exhibit, will be named the Meralco / Lopez Group of Companies Gallery.

National Museum

First Holdings supports for Conservation International (Phils.), a non-governmental organization committed to biodiversity conservation in the country, particularly in Palanan, Isabela and Coron, Palawan. This social undertaking gains significance in view of the fact that the Philippines is a megadiversity country with many endemic species threatened with extinction.

First Holdings also supports for the Ophthalmological Foundation of the Philippines (Ofphil). Ofphil provides eye care for indigents, particularly cataract operations in its mobile eye van. The foundation is pursuing an ambitious project to set up an Asian Eye Institute, which is envisioned to be a world-class eye research center in the Philippines.

First Holdings maintained its involvement with the Philippine Business for Social Progress and the Philippine Business for the Environment.
